Avalanche warning for region Indre Fjordane Tuesday 11.02.2020

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Snow showers and wind maintain the avalanche danger at higher altitudes. Unstable snow cover may be found. Avoid areas where winds slabs forms.

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Store snømengder i fjellet med påfølgande mildvêr og regn til 1200 moh, ga sist helg gjennomfukta snødekke opp til om lag denne høgda. Klarvêr har gitt delvis gjenfrysing av snødekket. Over mildvêrsgrensa finst det fokksnøflak av ulik hardheit søkk og leheng. Det er avblåst på ryggar og rabbar.

I eldre snødekke i hi fjellet finst det fleire meir eller mindre utvikla kantkornlag mellom skare- og fokksnølag. Kantkornlaga er omslutta av stabile lag med lite spenning og utgjer truleg ikkje eit skredproblem no.

20 mm precipitation, up to 30 mm in the most exposed areas. Fresh breeze from southwest. -9 °C to -3 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Meir nedbør, kaldare vêr og vind vil fornye skredproblemet med nysnø og innblåst snø i leområde. Snøgrensa kryp ned mot 300 moh. Eldre fokksnø vil gradvis stabilisere seg, men i høgfjellet har det samla seg mykje snø dei siste dagane, og her kan eventuelle skred bli store.
